Leon A. Dargis • Chairman

“The development of trust is an intense combination of accessibility and responsibility. As Chairman of Harbour Trust, I take great pride in being the steward of trust for each and every relationship.”

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Leon began his career in June of 1959. His education, background and experience bring together the multiple skills of estate, investment and tax planning which is the focus of Harbour Trust.

Prior to joining Harbour Trust, Leon served as Senior Vice President of a bank trust division.

During his tenure there, he not only started the trust division but grew it into a company with over $420 million assets under management – one of the largest bank trust divisions in the state of Indiana. Leon remains dedicated to the trust profession and continues to be active in the management of Harbour Trust.

Leon is married and is a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident where he has been involved in many civic organizations in LaPorte County. His current interest is focused on the continued growth and development of the LaPorte County Park Foundation where he serves as Board Treasurer.

Robert P. Rose • President

“When people ask what I do, I tell them that I’m in the relationship business. Building relationships with people is the most important thing I do. Becoming an invaluable part of a client’s life is what I enjoy most about the Harbour Trust approach, and I can’t think of anything more rewarding.”

A Notre Dame graduate, Bob began his career in June of 1983. Prior to joining Harbour Trust, he was employed by a bank subsidiary responsible for trust and investment management services. There he worked his way from Trust Investment Officer to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rose has remained a dedicated student of his profession. He has completed courses through: The American Institute of Banking, Northwestern University — National Trust School, The American Management Association — The Management Course, and Cannon Financial Institute — Personal Trust Advanced Administration.

Bob is a native of Northwest Indiana where he has invested in future generations as an instructor for Purdue University-North Central and The American Institute of Banking. He has volunteered his leadership skills to several local organizations and in the Chicagoland area.

Stephanie K. Oberlie • Chief Operating Officer

Upon graduating from Ball State University in 1994, Stephanie began her career as a Personal Trust officer managing estates, trusts, investment accounts, retirement portfolios and non-profit accounts. Stephanie is quite accomplished, completing Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust School and earning the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from Cannon Financial Institute. She has expanded her scope of learning and education to include strategic planning and risk management.  Today, she is the Chief Operating Officer of Harbour Trust & Investment Management Company, overseeing the divisions of the company and working to execute strategic initiatives throughout the company.

Stephanie was born and raised in Michigan City and currently serves on several not-for-profit boards. As a young child her family instilled in her the importance of giving back to your community by volunteering your time to affect change. As a result, this has become the cornerstone of her values. She currently serves as a board member of the Duneland Health Council Board, is president of the Michigan City Salvation Army Advisory Board, and chairperson of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is a member of the La Porte County Unity Foundation Gold Key Society and a past recipient of the Athena Award.

Michael K. Hackett • Vice President & Trust Officer

“The best compliment I have ever received was in 2009 during the financial crisis when a client told me, ‘I don’t worry about my financial situation because I know that you are taking care of me.’ Giving clients that peace of mind is my greatest pleasure.”

After graduating from Ball State University in 1993, Mike began his career in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Harbour Trust in 2001, Mike spent eight years serving as a Personal Trust Administrator with JP Morgan Chase. There, he was responsible for both personal trust and employee benefit accounts.

Mike has successfully completed the Personal Trust School program through Cannon Financial Institute at the University of Notre Dame. He earned the designation of Certified Trust Financial Advisor in 1997 and has enthusiastically worked to maintain this designation, as well as expand his knowledge of financial planning and investment management. In an effort to further broaden his knowledge of the trust and investment field, in 2012 Mike successfully passed the CISP exam and became a Certified IRA Services Professional through the Institute of Certified Bankers. He is the head of New Business Development at Harbour Trust and serves as head of the IRA Division.

Born and raised in Michigan City, Mike has two daughters and has served 3 terms as president of the Michigan City Rotary Club and as Rotary District 6540 Assistant District Governor. Mike is the Treasurer for the Lubeznik Center for the Arts.

John H. Weithers, CTFA • Senior Trust Officer

A graduate of Spring Hill College, John served as Trust Officer for 10 years at 1st Source Bank in the Employee Benefits Division of the Trust Department before he joined the Harbour Trust family. John has achieved the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers. He is now working toward the Certified Wealth Strategist designation.

John resides in Long Beach and is an active community volunteer. John serves on the Board of Limited Jurisdiction for Marquette Catholic High School as well as the Finance Committee and Executive Committee.

Lori Sopko • Trust Officer

Lori joined Harbour Trust in March 2010 and brought with her over 20 years of trust experience. Lori is an honors graduate of International Business College. In addition, she has completed the ABA Securities Services Skills, the Robert H. Franke & Associates Relationship Workshop, Cannon Trust School I, II and III and has many academic achievements relating to specific trust educational training and customer service. Lori is an active community volunteer within La Porte and Porter Counties. She is a longtime Northwest Indiana resident and currently resides in Chesterton, Indiana. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Nathan Cobbs • Trust Officer

Nathan began his career in 2003 after graduating from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management. Prior to joining Harbour Trust in 2012, he was an Investment Advisor and Investment Portfolio Manager and Trust Officer. Nathan’s entire career has been dedicated to advising and helping clients and maintaining a current awareness of changes within the wealth management industry, including new investment strategies and instruments. Nathan’s love of investments began as a teenager when at sixteen he bought his first stock.

Nathan was born and raised in Porter County, and he and his wife, Karen, have a daughter and son. Nathan is currently pursuing the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from Cannon Financial Institute at the University of Notre Dame. Additionally, Nathan is a board member of the Purdue Alumni Association, Purdue Alumni Finance Committee, and Purdue North Central Alumni Association. Nathan has also served as the Community Service Director of the Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club.

Brian C. Merrill • Vice President

Brian was born and raised in Muncie, IN, where he received a BS in Finance from the Ball State University Honors College. He started his investment career in 1995, spending 6 years with Horizon Bank and Old National Trust as a Portfolio Manager and Investment Officer, specializing in portfolio management of high-net-worth and retirement accounts. He completed Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust Investment Management course and passed the CFA level I examination. Prior to joining Harbour, Brian served as a financial advisor specializing in mortgage lending and insurance services in the Southeast. Brian joined Harbour Trust in 2008 as an Investment Officer and was promoted to CIO in 2013. In addition to managing the firm’s Investment Division, he also serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee, overseeing asset allocation strategy and individual asset selections for the company. Brian is a past board member of the Stepping Stone Shelter for Women, where he served as Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Committee. Brian, his wife Jennifer, and their 2 daughters reside in Michigan City.

Matthew L. Noll • Investment Officer

Matt Noll joined the Harbour Trust Investment Team in 2013. Matt graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He is a CFA Charterholder. Prior to joining Harbour Trust, Matt spent six years in the retail investment brokerage area in Chicago. Matt was born and raised in LaPorte and currently lives in LaPorte County with his wife and daughter.

Julie A. Corbett • Trust Administrator

Julie graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science. After being hired to by the largest law firm in La Porte County, she attended I.U.S.B. for 2 years earning her paralegal certification. Julie continued to work as a paralegal for over 25 years specializing in the administration of estates and trusts. Julie was born and raised in Michigan City, and lives in Michiana Shores with her husband, Richard.

Jack Bobillo • Investment Trader

Jack grew up in Long Beach and graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 2008. He went on to play baseball in college at both Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Chicago State University. He graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management.

After college, Jack coached baseball at Chicago Christian High School. This led to him pursuing his dream of playing professional baseball for the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in the Can-Am Independent League. After playing professionally, Jack moved home where he returned to coaching at Michigan City High School for two seasons.

Jack joined the team at Harbour Trust & Investment Management Company in the spring of 2016 and works in the investment department as an Investment Trader. He loves working at Habour Trust with people that care so much about their clients and the community where he grew up.

When he is not working, Jack enjoys golfing and spending time with friends and family. He loves living and working in Michigan City and looks forward to a future in the place he has always called home.
