Trust Officer Job Position

Job Title: Trust Officer

Reports to: Senior Vice-president

FLSA Status: Full-time

Summary: Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships of clients to effectively manage client's portfolios, providing each client personal attention and education.  Trust officer will prospect for new clients through relationship building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Prospect for new clients through relationship building.
    • Cultivate relationships with Centers of Influence such as attorneys and accountants that will lead to referrals.
    • Request referrals from existing clients.
  2. Effectively manage client portfolios to retain and build current assets.
    • Build personal relationships with each client in order to understand each client's financial goals and be able to educate clients.
    • Review each relationship at least annually to ensure compliance with trust terms, proper fee allocation, proper documentation, etc.
  3.  Handle the operation functions of individual client portfolios.
    • Interpret and implement legal terms of trust instruments, court orders and other trust related legal agreements.
    • Monitor and report excess and overdrawn cash and correct as needed.
    • Draft and present discretionary distribution memos to Trust Administration Review as required.
    • Review trust documents to determine income/principal distribution.
    • Oversee and execute client bill payment, tax payments and any other disbursements for the benefit of beneficiaries or the trust.

  • Ability to work with computer software programs, such as well as Microsoft (word, excel, outlook), trust accounting, and financial planning products.
  • Professionally maintains confidential information.
  • Work independently, willing to assist and train others, willing to share ideas and come to a consensus.
  • Awareness of security issues surrounding client records, work space, vault room, equipment, building entrances & alarm system.
  • Knowledge of BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, GLBA, & Reg 9.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures; view a computer monitor; extensive reading and ability to accurately discern large amounts of numeric data; color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Finance, Business or Economics, preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 (three) years' experience in investment management or trust administration.
  • CFP or CTFA designation helpful.
